Activating your service
Your Hong Kong mobile phone number can be found on your SIM card and begins 852.
To activate your service:
- Travel to Hong Kong.
- Be sure that the battery is adequately charged.
- Insert the SIM card into your GSM phone*.
- Turn your phone on.
- Start calling.
* You will need to snap out the thumbnail sized SIM card along the perforated edge of its holder and then insert the SIM card into your international mobile phone with the gold contacts of the SIM card facing the metal contacts of your mobile phone.
Making and receiving calls
How to make a call
To make an international call from your Hong Kong mobile phone dial 00 (or +), followed by the country code (1 for the US), area code and phone number.
How family and friends call you
Family and friends need to dial the international prefix, the country code 852 and your mobile phone number, omitting the first 0 (zero).
For example, when calling from the United States, callers need to dial 011 852 and then your mobile phone number.
Recharging your account
To recharge your Hong Kong SIM card, you can do one of the following:
- Purchase a SmarTone Recharge Voucher at any SmarTone shop, 24 hour convenience store or authorized dealers. Recharge vouchers for your Hong Kong SIM card are valued at 200 HK or 300 HK.
- Visit www.smartone.com.hk and choose "Stored Value SIM card" and then click "Recharge Methods." You may also dial 18031 from your Hong Kong cell phone (while in Hong Kong). The recharge value will be loaded to your SIM card instantly.
- You may also recharge your Hong Kong SIM card via an ATM at the "JETCO" or "ETC" Terminals. Select "SmarTone," enter your mobile phone number and follow the instructions to complete the recharge process of your Hong Kong cell phone. (The minimum recharge value is 100 HK.)
Do not purchase another Hong Kong SIM card when your credit is depleted! You only need a recharge voucher!

Customer service for your Hong Kong SIM card is available 24/7 by dialing *2880 2688 from your mobile phone. To access Toll-Free Account Management Hotline, dial 177 2288.
Service life
Your credit will expire 180 days from the activation date with all unused credit being forfeit and nonrefundable.
If you recharge your account within 180 days with a minimum amount of 100 HK ($12.80 USD), the stored value in your SIM card will be extended another 180 days.
If you do not recharge your account within 180 days, your SIM card and phone number will be recycled and any remaining credit will be forfeit. To get connected again you will be required to purchase another SIM card.
